OUR STORY
Palemead House was built back in the 1930's by the then owners of Waterloo Farm. Originally the bulding was in the form of two farm cottages, you can see the original toilet block at the rear of the origial building.
The two homes were converted into one home back in the 1980's and ultimately sold along with a small parcel of land comprising of the small field and a coppice. The current owners (Phil & Suzy) moved here in 2018 and carried out various works and modernisation to the property

"Phil and Suzy are the friendliest hosts you could wish for . Was a lovely base for a cycling weekend away with our motorhome. Great opportunity to visit the surrounding villages and Shaftesbury which has so much to offer . Even offered a lift to Shaftesbury if we didn’t want to use our bikes."

Phil and Susie obviously love having this CL and meeting all the people who come here to stay. They gave us details of some really good walking areas nearby that were fantastic for our dog to have a good run. Stourhead and Win Green National Trust sites are near and Shaftesbury and Gillingham are close. The site has electric hook up for each pitch in a big open field with plenty of space for kids to play. We kept our dog on a lead as they have free range chickens and ducks. It was amusing to watch their dog, Jess, round up and herd the ducks around the field. A great place to sit back and relax in the sunshine.

"What an amazing little hideaway, the site is very well looked after and clearly loved by the owners, Phil, Suzie and family. On arrival they are there to welcome you and are very friendly and helpful throughout your stay. The sunsets are to die for by the way! Will definitely be going back!"

"Oh my, never have we had such a friendly reception! Lovely, lovely people. Great sense of humour. Surprisingly, we had the place to ourselves. There is a little road noise from the Shaftesbury to Gillingham road but not enough to cause a disturbance. The site is grass, fairly level pitches. Handy for Gillingham, Shaftesbury and surrounding areas. Ducks, hens, pigs so dogs understandably on leads. Beautiful surroundings. What’s not to like? Get yourselves here for a relaxing break! Thank you so much Phil and Susie. This will be our “go to” when visiting the area."

"Nice rural site, close to Shaftesbury. Hosts Phil and Suzy went above and beyond to make us welcome even driving us into Shaftesbury and picking us up later, to save us packing up the van and trying to find a parking space in town. Would definitely recommend."
